Needlepoint Academy

Vicky Goodrum has developed a rolling year of technique classes that benefit stitchers at whatever point in their
journey. 

Ever wonder why your stitching is distorted? Why your threads pull out? Is compensation an issue? Learn the whys and hows in this series of classes! 

You'll learn to read a stitch guide and prepare for taking more complicated embellishment classes.  Build the tools you need to get the confidence to choose your own decorative stitches for your projects.

Needlepoint Academy: Beginner 101

Build a strong foundation and master increasingly complex skills and stitches with Needlepoint Academy!

How To Register:

  • Choose a Saturday morning session (all 9am - 12pm) from the available dates.
  • Tip: Technique classes are offered in the afternoon, following sessions of the Beginner and Intermediate class days. After completing Beginner 101, you can take Technique classes independently or pair with an Academy class in the morning for a full day of stitching!
The Class Experience

The Beginner 101 class is for new stitchers to needlepoint. Whether you’ve already delved into the world of cross stitch or embroidery or have never picked up a needle and thread, the Beginner 101 class is the perfect place to start.  This is where you learn the building blocks for future classes.  To create your unique small project, this class uses blank 13 mesh count canvas on stretcher bars with tacks and works with single ply thread.  You will be introduced to the “Stitches for Effect” book series.  Topics covered include differentiating the different types of threads, needles, and notions, how to read numbered stitch diagrams, and learning to stitch 6 different stitches.  Supplies $44.

Vicky's classes are held on-site at Stitching Fox in Landrum, South Carolina. We are located at 22349 Asheville Hwy., Landrum, SC 29356.

Costs & FAQ

Class fee of $100 per person per session, includes 3 hours of instruction. A $44 class supply kit will be reserved for you for purchase before class begins
