Diana selected her engagement ring from a tray of diamonds and sapphires presented to her at Windsor Castle by the royal jeweler Garrard in 1981. The ring features a 12-carat Sri Lankan sapphire surrounded by 18 diamonds and set in an 18-carat gold band.
